Price Chopper Coupon Policy Change?!?

Update:  Lisa confirmed on the Price Chopper facebook page:

Just a heads up, two three four readers have found signs in their Price Chopper stores stating:

Effective Monday (3/25/13), they will no longer be accepting coupons from Dollar General, Family Dollar, BJs, CVS, Rite Aid and Walgreens.

I have not yet seen these signs in my Price Chopper store but perhaps there will be a change in policy coming.

Thanks Joy, Randi, Erin, Lynda & Jen

Stores to date:
Clay NY
Watertown NY
Ogdensburg NY

  1. the poughkeepsie price chopper has never taken drugstore or dollar general coupons, it stinks! :( although i truly appreciate that they take comp. coupons because it saves SO much money.

  2. ...So then, who IS a competitor now? Shoprite & Target? I guess I will be doing my Price Chopper trip this weekend with my last Dollar General coupon, sniff...sniff...

  4. Heather, looks like it will be ShopRite, Target and Hannaford. Sniff sniff is right!

    Lynda, thanks for the update.

  5. Do you think this might be Price Chopper's way of recouping the money they had to repay because of the "double coupon" issue in the news last month?

  6. Interesting thought Beth, plus they've been buttering us up with those Free ecoupons...hmmm.

  7. No mention of Walmart? As in those IP coupons that say redeemable at Walmart.

  11. If you look on their facebook page it has a statement from Price Chopper under one of the pictures (the one with the diapers). It's not a status update to alert us all, which I find very sneaky.

  12. I had to do some major convincing but my Price Chopper now also takes Stop and Shop in addition to ShopRite, Hannaford, Target and Walmart. I asked them about Aldi's but they were not sure.

  13. Beth, updated the post. Thanks. Erik, Aldi doesn't have coupons.

  14. Sometimes in Syracuse area we get a rare $10 off $50 for Aldi's in the regular newspaper section not in a sale ad. I think there were two last year here but have not seen any this year.

Our Price Chopper in Syracuse should still take any grocery store coupon for our area like Tops and Wegman's (and Aldi's). Still unclear about Target and Walmart though. My PC has never allowed me to use a Target one, but other PCs in area have allowed it so go figure. We'll see on Monday.

  15. Wow Joy, I have never ever seen an Aldi coupon. I use Target coupons often @ my PC. They have allowed them for years...

  16. We had an Aldi open in Poughkeepsie and they ran their ad with $10 off $40 which was happily accepted at Price Chopper in Poughkeepsie! What a relief - I checked at customer service first just to be sure. It was part of the grand opening promotion for Aldi but I sure hope they have it again soon. I've never had a problem using Target coupons, which is nice.

  20. Perfect timing...it is time to renew the BJs membership and the only reason to have it this year was to use their coupons on PC, so no more BJs membership. Hate to lose the Family Dollar coupons...sniff :( I will definitely try to use some BJs coupons this week though!!!!

I hope they don't cut out any more competitor coupons. If they do, there is no more reason for me to shop there.

  21. Madison, NY Price Chopper would accept coupons for Kinney's which is a drug store chain. Though I don't know if that's changing now that Rite Aid and Walgreens are out.

  22. add north Utica to that list :(

  23. Do any other grocery stores also accept competitor coupons? I never shop at Hanna so I have no idea what their sales or policies are.
