Have you shopped at the Asian Supermarket?

Have you been to an Asian supermarket?  I have not.  Yet!  My friend Jen went today and bought all these pad thai ingredients - tofu 99 cents, vermicelli 79 cents/bag, bulk bean sprouts @ $1.49/lb plus ginger for ONLY $2.56No coupons needed!

1245 Central Avenue Albany NY
There is one located on Central Avenue in Albany.  I hear the produce and seafood selection is extensive.  There is also an Asian Market on Colvin Avenue in Albany.

If you've been, please share your experience.  I look forward to this coupon-free shopping trip.

Thanks Jen!

  3. I have gone to the colvin ave one but not in yrs. The fish area is very interesting. I love bakchoy and its a good price there. I am sure the Central Ave one is bigger and has more selection. There are also some indian markets where you can pick up great prices on spices.

  4. Love the Asian supermarkets! Also, the Indian supermarkets on Central Ave are fabulous for cheap spices, beans, rice, etc. At least if you use lots of them - the best buys are the larger bags. :)

  5. Jen said the Asian market didn't have Thyme. Do you think the Indian market does?

  6. I don't really know of a lot of Indian recipes that call for thyme. I've always associated that with middle eastern and Mediterranean foods.
